As opposed to its predecessor, Armed with Wings 2 offers completely different experience. Not only we start as a main villain from the first game, we're given a great variety of abilities.
While Lone Warrior swings his sword, Vandheer Lorde is able to figt equally as good with his fists and legs, as he does with his blades, which now have unique abilities each. Also, Vandheer Lorde lives up to his previous title of Water Master, by casting ice shots. But wait. there's more! Using his unmatched powers, the King can lift up and throw enemies around with terrifying power. And, finally, he can jump. Not only that, he can do charged jumps and even do aerial attacks, which give his jumps even more height.

However, there are issues. Mainly with jumps. When you decide that it is time to jump, Vandheer will stop and knee, preparing to make a leap. Nothing problematic. While you're not on the run. Same goes to landing. Vandheer will land, kneeing, while sliding around without ability to correct his trajectory, often resulting in death during some parts.

What really stands out in this game is how well soundtrack suits it, despite being taken from a different game. It took me a while to find every bit, but I did it.

Armed with Wings. The game that started the saga. And while the AwW universe is pretty solid, the very first its title didn't age that well. It is not simplistic, it is basic, though it has interesting counterattack feature, which is, sadly, kind of useless. We have our three-strike combo, uppercut slash and charged attack. Our eagle can fly around as long as it has enough stamina, and can also be left in wait anywhere to distract enemies, this feature is also rarely used.

For the new players this game will not be easy. The first boss is a major pain in the neck if you can't time your third strike properly and not sure what to do when it goes into "recovery" state.
Eagle labyrinth and stage 11 are also quite tedious levels, if you are not familiar with controls and timings.
Oh, you also can't jump (you can in Rearmed, however).

Also, what is the song in main menu? I think it is the only OST from AwW games I haven't found yet.

The game started as an experiment, and proven to be a quite fun experience. Whilst being pretty simplistic in terms of gameplay, being a survival beat-em-up title, it won't just let you stay in one place, shooting or cutting enemies (quite literally) left and right. No, there you will have to constantly move and balance between shooting and slashing the mob of agressive inhabitants of AshBelt, because your bow and sword stamina levels tend to deplete with each slash or arrow.

In terms of style it is... An interesting Armed with WIngs title. Instead of being monochrome, AshBelt picks a sketch style, which, however, doesn't take away AwW aesthetic.

All in all, AshBelt is a solid title, and I liked its experience.
